Mama, I'm sorry I don't celebrate Mother's Day like the other good little boys and girls. I'm sorry I don't shower you with material things. You know I don't need a Mother's Day reminder to remember how important you are to me. You know I don't believe in confining what I feel for you to a single day of the year. What I feel for you takes every moment of my life. What I feel for you can not be bought and sold at Walmart or Hallmart or any other mart. It cannot even be expressed with these very words. It is an invisible force that is mysteriously discernible by our hearts and our spirits.
You know I love you before, during, and after Mother's Day
your son
beautiful sentiments, it's what's inside that counts

DeleteI'm sure your mother understands. After all she's your mother.

she is indeed.
DeleteWhen my sister and I were little, and the teachers at nursersy school expected us to make something for our mothers on Mother's Day, we refused, telling them that our mother didn't want that, because she said she wanted us to love her and help her etc. all year round, not just one day of the year because the calendar (and convention) said so. The nursery teachers were angry with us for not obeying, and spoke to our mother when she came to pick us up later that day. But of course, our mother confirmed that what we had told them was true.
ReplyDeleteAnd to this day, I don't "do" anyhting special for Mother's Day. I spend a lot of time with my Mum all year round, and do things for her when I can.
i like that story a lot! thanks for sharing!
